Kimberly -

Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) & Surgery Coordinator

Kim joined The Sams Clinic in 2009. Since childhood, her love for animals was her driving force to one day become an RVT. Over the years she worked her way through the ranks and earned her RVT license in 2004. With more than 30 years in the veterinary industry, her combined experience in general practice, orthopedics, neurology and physical rehabilitation offers a wealth of knowledge and a compassionate approach to nurturing the human-animal bond. In 2017 Kim was one of 3 nominated finalists in the nation selected as Petplans technician of the year. Once a dirt track race car driver at Petaluma Speedway, she was forced to hang her helmet up after 6 years following a cancer diagnosis. Now in remission, Kim became a certified personal fitness coach with the added focus of helping fellow cancer survivors reclaim their strength through movement and exercise. Kim resides in Sonoma County with her Pitbull Joan Jett, and 3 cats Captain Jack Sparrow, Rizzo (in reference to Greece the musical), and CAARL! (in reference to…. well, he’s just a natural born rabble-rouser).

Samantha

-

Client Service Rep. & Veterinary Assistant

Samantha has loved animals for her whole life growing up with dogs and is a Fairfax, Marin County native. She grew up with the belief that animals feel and think just as we do and deserve love and respect. While attending College of Marin, she studied many subjects, including Art and Psychology, but fell in love with Biology. In addition to taking several animal science courses, she did a summer program studying ecology and biology out of a tent in Alaska and then spent 3 weeks interning for The Yellowstone Ecological Research Center. After spending a few years studying animals more in-depth, she decided she wanted to pursue a career related to animal well-being. She got a job as a technician assistant as well as started volunteering with a wildlife rehabilitation hospital. She started her career in the veterinary field in 2016 and joined The Sams Clinic in 2019. At The Sams Clinic, she spends most of the time working directly with clients at the front desk but mixes some technician work and post-surgery work-outs for patients. Samantha joined The Sams Clinic in 2019 in the hopes of understanding and practicing the highest quality of pet care with an exceptional veterinary team.

Kate - Client Service Rep.

Kate has been an avid animal lover from the very beginning, and her passion for helping our furry friends has only grown over the years. Growing up in Marin, she spent a lot of time volunteering at the Marin Humane Society, Guide Dogs For The Blind, and The Marine Mammal Center. She also finds joy in the performing arts, so she decided to pursue a BFA in musical theater. She moved to New York to follow that dream, but there was always something missing! She moved back home to the bay and joined a professional dog-walking/sitting company for almost three years. She gained extensive dog training and behavioral experience while creating incredible, long-lasting relationships with her clients. She then joined The Sams Clinic team in January 2022 and has never been happier! In her free time, Kate enjoys exploring with her newly adopted best bud Otter, traveling, spending time with family and friends, and singing her favorite tunes!

Andrew -

Client

Service Rep.

Andrew has worked with animals in different capacities for over a decade. Beginning in his early teens he worked as a ranch hand, training horses and looking after cattle, ducks, pigs, barn cats, and occasionally more dangerous critters like snakes and tarantulas! After completing undergraduate degrees in computer science and history, he went on to join the veterinary industry in 2020 and later moved from Austin to the Bay Area in 2023. Being able to work indoors and still be around animals every day makes him very happy. Outside of work, Andrew loves movies, nature, science fiction, board games, and old-timey country music artists like Lyle Lovett and Johnny Cash.

Lorena - Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)

From a young age, Lorena knew that she wanted to work with animals. Her interest and love for animals led her to receive a BS in Biology with a concentration in Zoology at San Francisco State University. During this time, she volunteered at the SF SPCA where she would help dogs and cats become more social, provided them their daily treatments, and volunteered in the ringworm ward. She would then go to graduate from Foothill College and received an AS in Veterinary Technology and her registered veterinary technician license in 2021. Before joining the Sam’s Clinic in 2024 she worked at a general practice in the East Bay for 4 years. Lorena calls Contra Costa County home along with her large cat family of 5 cats. In her free time she enjoys walking Bay Area trails, playing videos games, and jamming out to Electronic Dance Music.

Katy - Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)

Katy has worked in the veterinary field since 2002, bringing extensive experience across diverse settings, from general practice and emergency care to shelters and specialty hospitals, wildlife rehabilitation, and exotic animal sanctuaries. She earned her AS in Veterinary Sciences from the Bel-Rea Institute of Veterinary Technology and holds an AA from SRJC. She gained her license in 2015. Katy has always been fascinated with life sciences, finding great satisfaction in learning aspects of biology and physiology. That paired with her deep connection to the animals (her first word was cat) led to her career in veterinary medicine. She is honored to gain the trust of the families her patients are a part of. Katy resides in Sonoma County with her person, Levi, along with their cats, Pi and Ez, and a Chihuahua named Lola. Outside of work, she enjoys travel, gardening, and yoga. Fun fact: while she can’t choose a favorite animal, she does have three that she loves a little bit less—ticks, mosquitoes, and fleas.

Sara -

Veterinary Assistant

My name is Sara. I have always had a passion  for animals, so much so people told me I should become a vet when I grow up. As a young child I was raised  around dogs , cats and exotics.  I love them all! I was in 4-H and raised rabbits, would have loved to raise a pig or larger animal. My cousin  taught  me that reptiles, fish and other creepy  crawlies make great companions and have unique personalities. At 18 I worked at a dog daycare/ resort but life took me in another direction.  I am an Art  major and find it relaxing to create pieces.  In 2019 I came back to animal husbandry and started as a kennel  tech at Silverado Veterinary Hospital. I quickly moved up to tech assistant. I worked at a few more Veterinary  hospitals  and came to The Sams Clinic  early  2024. I aspire to become an amazing surgery tech and a RVT soon. I have  quite the "zoo" at home, a sulcata,  Cumberland slider turtle, 2 rabbits, a leopard gecko and an English bulldog. When I am not working, I spend my time going on adventures with my dog , Winston. We love the beach, even though Winston doesn't understand that waves come back in after they go out! I am looking forward to meeting your fur baby and helping them heal!

Susie -

I have been working in veterinary medicine for over two decades. Most of my career has been in general practice but I have recently refreshed my love for animal health by diving headfirst into emergency and specialty medicine. My passion is to improve animals’ lives by advocating on their behalf while working with and educating their humans. I look forward to becoming an RVT soon. Kissing dogs is my favorite pastime.
